With two months left of summer, there is still plenty of time to get out there, explore, and enjoy this weather! Our first big passion here at Legacy Eyewear is (well I’m sure you guessed it) wood, but our next big passion is motivating people to get out there and see this awesome world we live in—whether you are local here in Wilmington, or halfway across the world. Life is too short to not go see the natural beauty this world offers, so we’d love to give you some ideas on how to get out there and explore! And hey, if you want to rep your sunnies while doing so, we always appreciate our loyal crew!
Go Surfing! - Whether you are a pro, or you have never even stood up on a board before, surfing is always a great way to spend time outside! There is nothing quite like getting out on the water while the sun comes up early in the morning, or finishing up a long day by surfing at dusk. If you don’t have a board, no worries! South End Surf Shop on Wrightsville Beach has some awesome boards you can rent.
Hit up Downtown Sundown - Did you know that Wilmington throws a free concert downtown every Friday night during the summer (last one is September 2nd)? It’s true! Head downtown this Friday night around 6pm, grab a beer, enjoy the view as the sun sets over the water and the NC Battleship, and listen to the Funky Monks as they headline the night. The concerts are located on the corner of Princess Street and Water Street.
Hit the trail on a Hike! - There is nothing quite like the reward of summiting a mountain, or hopping into a beautiful waterfall pool after a long hike. While North Carolina has some of the most beautiful hiking in the country, there is plenty of great hiking spots all over the country! Happy trails!
Fly fishing! - Yes, regular fishing is definitely a great way to connect with nature, but if you have never been fly fishing, we highly recommend trying it out. There is always something great about trying a new challenge, and we think you enjoy! Whether you are fly fishing in the saltwater on the coast, or hitting up the trout streams in the mountains of NC, there are plenty of fish to be caught. It’s time to get those lines wet!
Picnic - Hey fellas! Looking for a way to take your summer crush out? Prepare some food, maybe grab a bottle of wine, and take her out on a picnic date. Take it to another level and bring some candles and music. Be yourself and have a great time!
Kayaking - Did you know that National Geographic listed kayaking in the Outer Banks in the Top 50 Adventures of a Lifetime? It’s true, and we think you’ll agree too! The natural beauty of the Outer Banks is something everyone should enjoy. If you can’t make the drive, no worries, rent a kayak at Wrightsville Kayak Company, and enjoy a nice evening on the Intracoastal!
USS NC Battleship - If you are a Wilmington local, and you have never been to the USS NC Battleship, you’re missing out! The battleship is the most decorated ship of WWII, and a great way to learn some American history with the family. Adult tickets are $12, and children are $6.
Roadtrip - Fill up the gas tank, pack the tent and sleeping bags, put those sunnies on, roll down the windows, turn up the music, and start driving! This country is huge and it has so much to offer! Get out there and explore, and we know you’ll have a great time!
I personally just finished a trip up to Glacier National Park and Banff in Canada, and it was a blast! Have fun out there this summer and tag us in all your adventures @legacyeyewear for Instagram and Twitter!
