Who’s Legacy

Down to His Last Dollars. Now He Buys Companies.

He quit a safe consulting job. He opened a gym and almost went broke. Then he learned to sell like no one else.

Alex Hormozi once had just a few thousand dollars left in the bank, and a business that was struggling.

Today he runs Acquisition.com, an investment firm whose companies make hundreds of millions of dollars a year. His business books have sold millions of copies, and his free videos reach huge audiences.

His big idea is simple: make offers so good that people feel stupid saying no.

The son of an immigrant

Alex Hormozi was born on August 18, 1988. His father came to the United States from Iran and worked hard to build a life. Alex grew up in the Baltimore area of Maryland.

His dad pushed him toward a safe, respected career.

Vanderbilt and the safe job

Alex went to Vanderbilt University and graduated in three years with top grades.

He took a job in management consulting. It paid well and made his parents proud. But he was unhappy. He loved fitness, and he wanted to build something of his own.

So he quit.

The gym years

Alex opened a gym in Southern California. He worked long hours, cleaned floors, trained clients and sold memberships.

He opened more gyms. Some did well. Then the business nearly fell apart, and he came close to losing everything.

He met Leila, a talented trainer who later became his wife and business partner.

Gym Launch

Alex noticed something. He was better at filling gyms with members than at running gyms. So he and Leila started Gym Launch, teaching other gym owners how to get clients with strong offers.

It exploded. They added Prestige Labs, a supplements company, and built software called ALAN, which they sold in 2021 for $46.2 million.

Giving it all away

Alex started sharing everything he learned for free on YouTube, Instagram and podcasts. He wrote $100M Offers and $100M Leads, and in 2026 launched $100M Money Models, which had a record breaking launch.

He also co-owns Skool, an online community platform.

Acquisition.com

With Leila, Alex runs Acquisition.com in Las Vegas. It invests in and helps grow other businesses, using the same playbook that built their own companies.

Where he is now

Today, Alex Hormozi is co-founder of Acquisition.com, a bestselling author and one of the most followed business educators online.

Why the story matters

Alex Hormozi's story is about grinding through failure and then sharing what works.

For young builders, the lessons are simple. Make your offer better than anyone else's. Put in more reps than others think is reasonable. And give real value away, because trust comes back many times over.

He did not sell harder. He made saying yes easy.
